The Book of Nehemiah is a history of God’s faithfulness to His covenant people, Israel. It is a dynamic handbook on leadership principles and a great picture of teamwork as an oppressed and depressed people followed Nehemiah’s leadership to accomplish a nearly impossible task. Nehemiah was a humble man of prayer and he demonstrated a careful and godly response to socioeconomic oppression and was masterful at conflict resolution. The Book of Nehemiah is a masterpiece on how faith, prayer, hard work and cooperation are essential to covenant renewal. It stands as a relevant framework for people of faith who live and labor in a pluralistic and godless society such as ours.
